    Sammanfattning : This study deals with the impact of industrialisation and urbanisation on the living conditions of aged men and women. By studying labour force participation, savings and pensions, the role of the family, and the extent of dependency of aged men and women from a gender and class perspective, continuities and changes between pre-industrial and industrial times are examined.     Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the publication, design, dissemination and use of patterns for knitting and crochet in Sweden in the mid-nineteenth century. It investigates why the mediation of patterns for knitting and crochet changed during this period and what these changes reveal about the handicraft skills of the target group and the social context for which the patterns were produced. On Art and Artistry in Swedish Handicraft of the 1920s and 1990s", is to investigate the field of handicraft in relation to a wider field of cultural production. Its aim is to contribute to a mapping of interrelated outlines of handicraft and art based on empirical studies of artistic creation in two local Swedish handicraft organizations during the modernism of the 1920s and the postmodernism of the 1990s.     Sammanfattning : This study examines the manufacturing of tailored men’s garments in the workshops at the Swedish royal court during the reigns of Charles IX and Gustavus Adolphus. The focus of the examination has been on the craft of tailoring and the organization of the court tailors. The study is built on both object-based and archival research. LÄS MER
