16. Neutron Irradiation Techniques
Sammanfattning : The He-3 “crisis” has become a fact in the last decade and large scale neutron detectors based on He-3 technologies have become unaffordable. This new He-3 reality has resulted in a major effort worldwide to develop replacement neutron-detector technologies. LÄS MER
17. Aerothermal Experimental Investigation of LPT-OGVs
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the design, commissioning, and experimental data of a newly built turbine facility at Chalmers University of Technology for investigating the ow in the engine exit structure (EES). The EES is the structure located downstream of the lowpressure turbine (LPT) in a jet engine. LÄS MER
18. On the hydrodynamic lubrication in tilting pad thrust bearings
Sammanfattning : The primarily objective of this work was to investigate the performance of environmentally adapted synthetic oils in the hydrodynamic lubrication regime. A special test facility has been designed and manufactured for this purpose. The facility contains two equalising tilting pad thrust bearings typical of design in general use. LÄS MER
19. An Experimental Study to Measure And Improve the Grout Penetrability
Sammanfattning : An essential demand in any underground facility is to seal it against the water ingress to reduce the time and cost of the construction and the corresponding environmental hazards. To achieve this, obtaining sufficient grout spread is of great importance. LÄS MER
20. Charged current quasi-elastic muon neutrino interactions in the Baby MIND detector
Sammanfattning : The T2K long-baseline neutrino experiment in Japan is designed to study neutrino oscillations, to determine the mixing angles and mass-squared difference of the neutrino mass eigenstates and, potentially, to discover CP violation in neutrinos by comparing neutrino to antineutrino oscillations. In the near detector complex 280 m downstream of the produc- tion target at the Japanese Particle Accelerator Research Centre (J-PARC), the WAGASCI experiment will measure the ratio of cross sections from neutrinos interacting with a water and scintillator targets, in order to constrain neutrino cross sections essential for the T2K neutrino oscillation measurements.
