  1. 1. Dusting in a lime kiln - Characterization of the material and unit operations

    Författare :Henric C O Dernegård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; terminal velocity; Dusting lime kiln; fines; lime mud filter; ESP-dust; reactivity;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes the background of, and gives some points of orientation for, the phenomenon of dusting in the burner zone of a lime kiln. The aim of this study is twofold: to increase knowledge of the factors that influence the degree of dusting and also to investigate the effect a dusting lime kiln has on the white liquor preparation process. 2. 2. Human motion prediction using wearable sensors and machine Learning

    Författare :Binbin Su; Elena M. Gutierrez-Farewik; Christian Smith; Neil Cronin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wearable sensors; gait segmentation; lower limb angular velocity; machine learning; deep learning; reinforcement learning; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Accurately measuring and predicting human movement is important in many contexts, such as in rehabilitation and the design of assistive devices. Thanks to the development and availability of a wide variety of sensors, scientists study human movement in many settings and capture characteristic properties unique to individuals as well as to larger study populations. 3. 3. Fluid Dynamics of the Bottom Bed of Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers

    Författare :Anders Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluidized beds; circulating fluidized bed boilers; fluctuations; fluidization regimes; bottom bed; bed porosity; fluid dynamics; bubbling beds; circulating fluidized beds; non-slugging; bed expansion; particle concentration;

    Sammanfattning : The fluid dynamic conditions in the furnace of a fluidized bed boiler influence the combustion and the production of harmful emissions. A substantial amount of the bed material in a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler is present as a dense bubbling bottom bed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Turbulent jets in confined spaces : application in mixing ventilation: experimental and numerical studies

    Författare :Taghi Karimipanah; Mats Sandberg; H. A. Awbi; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulent; wall jet; impinging jet; free jet; confinement effect; pressure; throw; experimental; numerical; corner; momentum; mixing ventilation;

    Sammanfattning : The basis of mixing ventilation is the airflow supply to the room by means of jets initiatedfrom the ventilation diffusers. To avoid the draught problem, the design of mixing ventilationmakes uses the throw term, which is defined as the distance to the supply air terminal inwhich the jet centreline mean velocity is decreased to a given value. 5. 5. On spinal mechanisms for reflex control in man : modulation of Ia-afferent excitation with changes in muscle length, activation level and fatigue

    Författare :Maria M. Nordlund; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle;

    Sammanfattning : To control muscle force, neural activation has to take alterations in muscle mechanics into account. This thesis assesses modulations in excitatory efficacy of Ia-afferents during muscle length changes at different levels of voluntary activation and during fatigue. LÄS MER
