  1. 6. Molecular specification of expanded forebrain neural stem and progenitor cells

    Författare :Malin Parmar; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; teratology; ontogeny; embryology human ; Development biology; developmental control genes; in vitro expansion; transplantation; precursor cell; stem cells; progenitor cell; human; mouse; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryologi människa ;

    Sammanfattning : The molecular specification of neural precursor cells has been suggested to be a progressive process, with a transition from an early requirement for extrinsic signals to intrinsic mechanisms. Thus, the cells in the nervous system acquire distinct fates in response to extrinsic signals, which activate repertoires of transcription factors in a region and cell type specific manner. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Congenital malformations in experimental diabetic pregnancy : Aetiology and antioxidative treatment

    Författare :Martin Simán; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Diabetes; pregnancy; teratology; malformations; embryo; fetus; cataract; sorbitol; antioxidants; butylated hydroxytoluene; vitamin E; vitamin C; TBARS; neural crest cells; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes mellitus in pregnancy causes congenital malformations in the offspring.The aim of this work was to characterize biochemical and morphologic anomaliesin the conceptus of an animal model of diabetic pregnancy. In addition, apreventive treatment against diabetes-induced dysmorphogenesis was developed. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Development of the Mouse Lateral Telencephalon

    Författare :Jan Stenman; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; teratologi; embryologi människa ; Utvecklingsbiologi; ontogeny; embryology human ; teratology; Development biology; progenitor domains; striatum; olfactory bulb; amygdala; development; telencephalon; patterning; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : The telencephalon is the most rostral part of the vertebrate central nervous system and is comprised of a number of structures important for voluntary movements and higher cognitive processes. This thesis focuses on the genetic mechanisms that control development of a number of telencephalic structures: the olfactory bulb, the striatum as well as the lateral and basolateral nuclei of the amygdala. 4. 9. Long-term neurogenesis after stroke in the adult rat brain

    Författare :Pär Thored; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; embryologi människa ; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryology human ; ontogeny; Development biology; teratology; Stroke; Stem Cells; Neurogenesis; neurofysiologi; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi; Neurologi; neuropsykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability for which there is no treatment for functional recovery. Following stroke, striatal neurogenesis is increased, with newly formed neuroblasts migrating towards the damage. This response has so far been considered acute and transient. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Posterior ocular malformations in children : teratological aspects

    Författare :Kristina Teär Fahnehjelm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Teratology; ocular malformations; visual impairment; anti-epileptic drugs; congenital infection; optic nerve hypoplasia; coloboma; magnetic resonance imaging; neonatal cholestasis; dried blood spots;

    Sammanfattning : Posterior ocular malformations are common causes of visual impairment in Swedish children. The most frequent diagnoses within this group are optic nerve hypoplasia and optic nerve/chorioretinal coloboma. Genetic factors, teratogens like medical/addictive drugs or congenital infections and unknown factors may cause these malformations. LÄS MER
