  1. 1. Cell therapy for denervated tissue

    Författare :Roine El-Habta; Ludvig J. Backman; Paul J. Kingham; Patrik Danielson; António Salgado; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipose tissue-derived stem cell; cell therapy; denervation; differentiation; myoblast; peripheral nerve injury; proliferation; regeneration; skeletal muscle; stromal vascular fraction; survival; tendon; cellforskning; cell research; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Peripheral nerve injury results in denervation of tendons and muscles. The biology of denervated muscle has been well studied but little is known about the associated tendons. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The plantaris tendon in relation to the Achilles tendon in midportion Achilles tendinopathy : studies on morphology, innervation and signalling substances

    Författare :Christoph Spang; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; Patrik Danielson; Karim Khan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Plantaris tendon; Achilles tendon; Achilles tendinopathy; innervation; morphology;

    Sammanfattning : Midportion Achilles tendinopathy (tendinosis) is a troublesome painful condition, often characterised by pain, local swelling, tenderness and functional disability. Despite extensive research, the pathogenesis is poorly understood and treatment remains challenging. Features related to the peritendinous connective tissue can be of importance. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Tendon injuries and tendinopathy are common disorders, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. The overall aim of this thesis was to better understand the mechanisms underlying tendon healing, pain, and inflammation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neuropeptide and catecholamine effects on tenocytes in tendinosis development : studies on two model systems with focus on proliferation and apoptosis

    Författare :Ludvig Backman; Patrik Danielson; Malcolm Collins; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; substance P; neurotransmitter; tendinopathy; overuse injury; rabbit; tendon cell; Achilles tendon;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Achilles tendinopathy is a common clinical syndrome of chronic Achilles tendon pain combined with thickening of the tendon and impaired tendon function. Tendinopathy is often, but not always, induced by mechanical overload, and is frequently accompanied by abnormalities at the tissue level, such as hypercellularity and angiogenesis, in which case the condition is called tendinosis. 5. 5. Influences of paratendinous innervation and non-neuronal substance P in tendinopathy : studies on human tendon tissue and an experimental model of Achilles tendinopathy

    Författare :Gustav Andersson; Patrik Danielson; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; David A. Hart; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinopathy; tendinosis; paratenon; innervation; substance P; neuropeptides; neurokinin-1 receptor; Anatomy; Anatomi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Pain of the musculoskeletal system is one of the most common reasons for people seeking medical attention, and is also one of the major factors that prevent patients from working. Chronic tendon pain, tendinopathy, affects millions of workers world-wide, and the Achilles tendon is an important structure often afflicted by this condition. LÄS MER
