    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on glycemic control measured as HbA1c in type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients during childhood and especially during adolescence, both in a Swedish and an international context, and relates the glycemic control to the risk of complications in young adults.  In studies I and II, the Swedish Pediatric Diabetes Quality Register (SWEDIABKIDS) and the Swedish National Diabetes Register (NDR) were used.     Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to study the transition process from dependency towards anatomy and psychological empowerment among teenagers with type 1 diabetes. Thirty-two teenagers (18 female/14 male) aged 13-17 took part in conversational interviews. The interviews followed a semi-structured question guide. LÄS MER

The overall aim of the research underlying this thesis was to study the influence of environmental factor exposure on the risk of T1D in childhood and adolescence, and gut microbiota composition in early childhood.
