11. On the use of visualisation tools in product design : exploring possibilities and problems of virtual reality techniques
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis has its base in product development methodology and examines product representations and visual displays as tools for product design. New visualisation technologies, such as VR, has entered the market, but unfortunately, questions of usability and accessibility for the designer are often set aside in favour of development of the technology itself. 12. Communicating long-span timber structures with 3D computer visualization
Sammanfattning : One of the reasons for the low amount of timber in construction is a general lack of knowledge about timber engineering and how timber can be used to its full advantage. In this thesis the focus is 3D computer visualisation (3D VIZ) of non-residential long-span timber structures, used for storage, industry and sports where 3D VIZ is defined as a process where a 3D-model is enhanced with environmental information e. 13. Digital Technologies for Enabling Smart Production : Examining the Aspects of Selection and Integration
Sammanfattning : With the development towards Industry 5.0, manufacturing companies are developing towards smart production. In smart production, data is used as a resource to interconnect different elements in the production system to learn and adapt to changing production conditions. LÄS MER
14. Industrialised housing design efficiency
Sammanfattning : Industrialised housing has increased its Swedish market share the latest ten years from 2% to 15%. Prefabrication has developed into actual industrialisation, where factories produce not only elements for site assembly, but takes wholesale responsibility for the sales, design, factory production, and assembly of houses. 15. Knowing and Seeing the Combatant. War, Counterinsurgency and Targeting in International Law
Sammanfattning : Knowing and Seeing the Combatant investigates how does the US counterinsurgent forces make distinction between civilians and combatants during targeting practices? This dissertation is specifically focused on the visual dynamics of the contemporary targeting and as such argues that the insurgent's withdrawal from the obligation of visual self-identification as targets by not wearing military uniform reveals a complicated logic of target-ability in the laws of armed conflict (LOAC).Focusing on the legal, political and visual functions of the military uniform, this dissertation argues that LOAC legitimises lethal violence by reliance on a particular conception of human target that can be summarised as a nexus of ‘knowledge – contribution to adversarial militarised willpower – and Vision – material modes of visibility and invisibility’.
