  1. 1. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 2. 2. Visualisation and Generalisation of 3D City Models

    Författare :Bo Mao; Yifang Ban; Lars Harrie; Monika Sester; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D city models; visualisation; generalisation; multiple representation structure; similarity evaluation; aggregation; typification; shell model; street index; texture compression; texture segmentation; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : 3D city models have been widely used in various applications such as urban planning, traffic control, disaster management etc. Efficient visualisation of 3D city models in different levels of detail (LODs) is one of the pivotal technologies to support these applications. 3. 3. Negotiating 'Culture', Assembling a Past: the Visual, the Non-Visual and the Voice of the Silent Actant

    Författare :Jonathan Westin; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANITIES; HUMANITIES; Techniques of visual representation; visualisation; limitation; audience; museum; exhibition; technology; interactivity;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse the processes surrounding the creation of a scientific visual representation, where, both in the practical creation of this visualisation and in the way it is communicated, those actants which amount to what we call ‘culture’ or cultural value, are enrolled or ignored. Trying to answer if a broader set of non-visual cultural properties can be identified and their influence described, and if history can be visualised without displacing our knowledge of the past in favour of a popular representation thereof, I trace the interaction between client, artist, technology and target audience. 4. 4. Dokument inifrån : Ultraljudsbilder och visualisering av det väntade barnet

    Författare :Ann-Cristine Jonsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ultrasound scan; health technology; interaction; parental perspective; normality; the unborn child; visualisation; ultraljudsundersökning; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : Medical technology continuously shapes and transforms the image of the body. Within the social sciences, questions have been raised about how people make sense of new representations of the body in their everyday lives. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the use of visualisation tools in product design : exploring possibilities and problems of virtual reality techniques

    Författare :Per Johansson; Simon Richir; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis has its base in product development methodology and examines product representations and visual displays as tools for product design. New visualisation technologies, such as VR, has entered the market, but unfortunately, questions of usability and accessibility for the designer are often set aside in favour of development of the technology itself.
