  1. 16. SCALING UP RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES - The role of resource mobilisation in the growth of technological innovation systems

    Författare :Kersti Karltorp; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resource mobilisation.; scaling up technologies; Wind power; technological innovation system; biorefineries;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid and large-scale diffusion of renewable energy technologies is needed to avoid severe climate changes that would dramatically affect the conditions for human life on Earth. To scale up these technologies involves technological development, but also the alteration of structures that are locked-in to established socio-technical systems. LÄS MER

  2. 17. New Technology-Based Firms and Industrial Dynamics Evidence from the Technological System of Biomaterials in Sweden, Ohio and Massachusetts

    Författare :Annika Rickne; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; firm development; policy; industrial dynamics; technological system; growth; connectivity; management; biomaterial; new technology-based firm; co-evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to enhance the understanding of the relationship between industrial dynamics and new technology-based firms (henceforth NTBFs). For a population of biomaterials NTBFs in Sweden, Ohio and Massachusetts, we have analyzed two facets of this issue. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Emerging networks of power: Exploring sociotechnical pathways towards future electricity systems based on renewable energy technologies

    Författare :Kristina Hojcková; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; entrepreneurs; context; sociotechnical systems perspective; Technological Innovation System; Multilevel Perspective; electricity system; transition pathways; incumbents; renewable energy; energy users;

    Sammanfattning : In the effort to fight climate change, electricity systems around the world are undergoing a transition from fossil-fuelled to renewable energy-based production of electricity. The transition can, however, be attained in several radically different ways, ranging from global or continental super-grids, via local smart-grids, to self-sufficient off-grid communities and households of electricity prosumers.
