1. Engineering principles for open socio-technical systems
Sammanfattning : Engineering Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for robust information sharing is the fundamental area of investigation in thesis. Robust workflow based information sharing systems have the potential to be part of robust information infrastructures providing positive effects for the individuals and teams as well as opportunities for societal and economical gains. 2. A paradigm questioned : a study of how the cultural relativity of modern management knowledge confines
Sammanfattning : This study is based upon the double proposition that a transfer of modern management knowledge is an important component of the development assistance given to Third World countries and that this knowledge has a cultural basis thatrestricts its transferability. The very essence of the cultural basis is thought to consist of culture contingent implicit assumptions about phenomena in the reality. LÄS MER
3. Modern Missionaries : An Ethnography of Social Entrepreneurs and Entrepreneurial Legitimation in the Humanitarian Field
Sammanfattning : In nearly six decades of international interventions, the question of how to promote societal progress in African societies is still the subject of lively debates. The persistence of wars, famine, political instability and economic underdevelopment on the continent continues to fuel spirited discussions about how to organize aid most efficiently and whether old forms of international assistance still work. 4. Facing failures : interactions between drivers and advanced driver assistance systems
Sammanfattning : Drivers interactions with advanced driver assistance systems based on experiences from real driving and results from driving in a driving simulator were under investigation in this thesis. Questions posed were: - How do drivers perceive and interact with ADAS? - How are (technical) failures handled by drivers, and which are the consequences of these failures? - Which are the implications for diagnosis and detection of failures, as well as for system development? Special attention was given to driver behavior in response to technical failures in an adaptive cruise control system. LÄS MER
5. Driving Safe in the Future - HMI for Integrated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Sammanfattning : To be able to drive safely and efficiently, drivers need information from the surrounding traffic environment that make it possible to foresee early events that may negatively affect safety. A driver can in some cases perceive events that potentially have a negative impact on traffic safety, but in other cases not. LÄS MER
