  1. 1. Role of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase in bone remodeling

    Författare :Laia Mira-Pascual; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase is a metalloenzyme that exists as two isoforms: the monomeric TRAP 5a and the proteolytically cleaved TRAP 5b, responsible for phosphatase activity, which is highly expressed in osteoclasts (OCs). TRAP 5b has been used as a serum marker of bone resorption, as it correlates with the absolute number of OCs and with resorption markers such as CTX-I. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of tartrate-resistant purple acid phosphatase by proteolytic processing in rat

    Författare :Jenny Ljusberg-Sjölander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Purple acid phosphatase; enzyme catalysis; proteolytic processing;

    Sammanfattning : Purple acid phosphatase (PAP) is an iron-containing binuclear acid metallohydrolase with a characteristic purple colour, also referred to as tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), uteroferrin or type 5 acid phosphatase. PAP is highly expressed in osteoclasts and has a role in bone resorption. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase in the immune and nervous system : distribution and pathophysiological implications

    Författare :Pernilla Lång; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) belongs to the family of purple acid phosphatases (PAP). It is a glycoprotein synthesized as a monomer with low enzyme activity containing a redox active diiron centre in the active site. Post-translational proteolytic processing of this monomer into a dimeric protein increases the enzyme activity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biogenesis of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoforms 5a and 5b in cell and animal models

    Författare :Serhan Zenger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) is an iron-containing binuclear acid metallohydrolase that belongs to the purple acid phosphatase (PAP) family. It is a glycoprotein translated as a monomeric protein but is commonly isolated from tissues as a proteolytically processed dimeric form with increased enzyme activity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase 5a : a potential regulator of adipocyte cell number and differentiation in white adipose tissue

    Författare :Christina Patlaka; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) exists in two isoforms, TRAP 5a which is monomeric and TRAP 5b which is a dimer generated by proteolytic cleavage of TRAP 5a, that exhibit different functions and localizations. TRAP 5a is expressed by adipose tissue macrophages and secreted into the extracellular environment and has been shown to lead to hyperplastic insulin-sensitive obesity when over-expressed in mice.
