1. Discovery-Oriented Screening of Dynamic Systems: Combinatorial and Synthetic Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis is divided into six parts, all centered around the development of dynamic (i.e., reversibly interacting) systems of molecules and their applications in dynamic combinatorial chemistry (DCC) and organic synthesis. LÄS MER
2. Convergent and Tandem Strategies in Iridium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Olefins
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis describes the development of enantioselective methods and their corresponding mechanistic studies to expand the field of catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation. Efficient catalytic systems based on iridium complexes were designed and employed in convergent and tandem strategies to prepare important optically enriched organic compounds. LÄS MER
3. A tandem Catalyst for hydrogenation of CO2 to light olefins — The role of the zeolite component
Sammanfattning : The catalytic conversion of waste CO2 into light olefins offers a sustainable pathway for green chemicals production in the future. Over a tandem catalyst with the bifunctional active sites for methanol synthesis (CTM) and methanol to olefins (MTO), CO2 can be efficiently converted via intermediate methanol into a mixture of light olefins (ethylene, propene, butene). 4. Structural Insights at Sub-Ångstrom, Medium and Low Resolution: Crystallization of Trypsin, Bacterioferritin, Photosynthetic Reaction Center, and Photosynthetic Core Complex
Sammanfattning : The catalytic action of serine proteases depends on the interplay of a nucleophile, a general base and a general acid. The catalytic triad is composed of serine, histidine and aspartate residues. The serine acts as a nucleophile while the histidine plays a dual role as the general base or acid at different steps of the reaction. LÄS MER
5. Controlling the Reactivity and Selectivity in Iridium- and Rhodium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is mainly focused on the development of iridium- or rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation featuring a number of practical concepts including cascade reaction, kinetic resolution, desymmetrization, and dearomatization. The protocols rely on gaining control of the reactivity among different olefins or olefin precursor as well as maintaining chemo- and stereo-selectivity in the hydrogenation. LÄS MER
