  1. 1. Mathematical Reasoning : In physics and real-life context

    Författare :Helena Johansson; Mats Andersson; Jesper Boesen; Morten Blomhøj; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Creative mathematical reasoning; Descriptive statistics; Differential item functioning; Figurative context; Imitative reasoning; Mathematical Reasoning Requirements; Mathematics tasks; National tests; Physics tasks; Real-life context; T-test; Upper secondary school; Creative mathematical reasoning; Descriptive statistics; Differential item functioning; Figurative context; Imitative reasoning; Mathematical Reasoning Requirements; Mathematics tasks; National tests; Physics tasks; Real-life context; T-test; Upper secondary school;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a compilation of four papers in which mathematical reasoning is examined in various contexts, in which mathematics is an integral part. It is known from previous studies that a focus on rote learning and procedural mathematical reasoning hamper students’ learning of mathematics. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Caregivers' Singing Facilitates Mutual Encounter : Implementation and Evaluation of Music Therapeutic Caregiving in Complex Dementia care Situations

    Författare :Lena Marmstål Hammar; Eva Götell; Azita Emami; Gabriella Engström; Mälardalens högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dementia; caring; caregivers; intervention; music; singing; emotion; aggression; resistance communication; qualitative; quantitative; content analysis; single case; student t-test.; dementia;

    Sammanfattning : Persons with severe dementia suffer from major cognitive impairment, and are in need of considerable caring services. They commonly react with problematic behaviors, such as resistance and aggression in close care (e.g., morning care situations). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Putting words to child physical abuse : Possible consequences, the process of disclosure, and effects of treatment. From children’s perspectives

    Författare :Johanna Thulin; Cecilia Kjellgren; Doris Nilsson; Eriksson Maria; Linnéuniversitetet; []

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of the thesis is to explore the experiences and possible consequences concerning reported health and relations between a parent perpetrator of physical child abuse and the children who are victims of the parental physical abuse, the children’s thoughts when disclosing the abuse, and the impact of an intervention designed to support these children in a Swedish context – Combined Parent Child Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CPC-CBT). Methods: This thesis has a mix-method design. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Climate Change Effects on Rainfall and Management of Urban Flooding

    Författare :Arun Rana; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Climate Change; Extreme Events; Intensive Rainfall; Urban Drainage; Intensity-Duration-Frequency; Statistical analysis; Flood Management;

    Sammanfattning : Flooding in urban basins is intensifying due to increasing urbanization and climate change and variability. This thesis presents how the effects of climate change and high-intensive rainfall on the urban drainage system and management of flooding in urban areas of were studied in Mumbai, India and Southern Sweden, including Skåne and Gothenburg. 5. 5. On Sequential Treatment Allocations in Clinical Trials

    Författare :Carl-Fredrik Burman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; treatment assignment; clinical trial; biased coin designs; balance of prognostic factors; sequential design; randomization test; expected p-value; deficiency; efficiency; efficiency;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation treats baseline-dependent sequential designs of two-treatment parallel-group clinical trials. The treatment assignments are chosen in order to minimize the variance, in a linear model, of the treatment effect. This is done for each new allocation using a generalized biased coin design, or a non-randomized minimization' method. LÄS MER
