  1. 11. Geographic Distribution of Intra-specific Variation in Widespread Eurasian boreo-nemoral Woodland Herbs

    Författare :Torbjörn Tyler; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .; Plant genetics; Växtgenetik; morfologi; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; phytogeography; morphology; taxonomy; historical biogeography; Systematic botany; allozymes; population differentiation; postglacial migration; genetic variation; geographic variation;

    Sammanfattning : Many woodland plant species have huge distribution areas covering large parts of the Eurasian continent including areas that were glaciated during the last glacial period. In the present thesis, the geographic distribution of variation within such species is investigated and discussed in relation to glacial survival and post-glacial migration, dispersal ability, breeding system and levels of gene-flow between populations and related species, and various methods to measure and analyse genetic variation. 2. 12. RECOMBINANT PEROXIDASES AND XYLANASES: I. Cloning and production of a peroxidase from horseradish II. Characterisation of functional domains of thermostable xylanases from Rhodothermus marinus

    Författare :Eva Bartonek Roxå; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amorphous cellulose; xylan; CBD; carbohydrate binding domains; insect cells; Baculovirus; catalytically active; recombinant horseradish peroxidase; HRP-n; PASC; beta-glucan; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Part I: Plant peroxidases are useful in many areas of application e.g. as tracer enzymes for clinical applications and in biosensors as well as for industrial purposes like in waste water treatment and bleaching processes. A gene encoding a new, neutral horseradish peroxidase isoenzyme, HRP-n, was isolated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Exploring Anti-FVIII Antibodies in Haemophilia A - Role in In Vitro Haemostasis and Clinical Disease

    Författare :Jenny Klintman; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hemophilia A; inhibitors; non-neutralizing anti-FVIII antibodies; thrombin generation assay; ELISA;

    Sammanfattning : Haemophilia A (HA) is caused by defective synthesis of coagulation factor VIII(FVIII), which has serious effects on haemostasis; joints being the most common site of bleeding. The development of FVIII replacements has improved the situation for patients with haemophilia such that chronic arthropathy can be prevented, and life expectancy and the quality of life have increased. 4. 14. Hormone-sensitive lipase: Molecular analyses of the human gene; structural and evolutionary aspects on expression, alternative splicing and cold adaptation

    Författare :Henrik Laurell; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymologi; Proteiner; Proteins; enzymology;

    Sammanfattning : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) is a key enzyme in adipose tissue that hydrolyses stored fat (triacylglycerol). The activity of HSL is under strict hormonal and neural control. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Factors Affecting Rates of Change in Soil Bacterial Communities

    Författare :Marie Pettersson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; Plant ecology; Växtekologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; DGGE; PLFA; TdR-incorporation; function; structure; tolerance; adaptation; pH; soil bacterial community; temperature;

    Sammanfattning : The soil bacterial community is under the constant influence of its environment. Changing any of the factors affecting the bacterial community will induce a selection pressure which, with time, will change the community. In this work the effect of changing the temperature or pH on the soil bacterial community was studied. LÄS MER
