1. Mesentric hemodynamics and effects of angiotensin II during circulatory stress
Sammanfattning : Mesenteric hypoperfusion and ischemia is considered to be deleterious to the intestinal mucosal barrier function and it is suggested that the renin-angiotensin system plays a pivotal role in the regulation of mesenteric perfusion. The present thesis examines the effects of the specific AT1 receptor blocker candesartan on mesenteric hemodynamics during acute hypovolemia and endotoxinemia. 2. Hemodynamic and cardiometabolic studies in patients with distributive circulatory dysfunctions : with special reference to the effects of the beta-1-adrenoreceptor agonist prenalterol
Sammanfattning : A total of 49 patients were studied, using invasive hemodynamic techniques with systemic arterial, pulmonary artery and right atrial pressure recordings together with thermodilution cardiac output determinations. Sixteen of the patients were also subjected to cardiometabolic studies, using measurement of coronary sinus blood flow by the continuous thermodilution technique and analyses of oxygen content and lactate concentration in the systemic and coronary circulation. 3. Carbon Dioxide Pneumoperitoneum - Hemodynamic Consequences and Thromboembolic Complications
Sammanfattning : The laparoscopic way of performing general surgical procedures was introduced all over the Western world in a few years around 1990. No previous scientific studies of the safety of this new way of performing general surgery had been undertaken. LÄS MER
4. Mean systemic filling pressure - from Guyton to the ICU, and back again
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Mean systemic filling pressure (MSFP) is the equilibrated vascular pressure at zero flow. Venous return (VR) driving pressure (VRdP) is the difference between MSFP and right atrial pressure (RAP). LÄS MER
5. Systemic absorption of glycine solution and the TUR syndrome : clinical, pathophysiological and pharmacological aspects
Sammanfattning : Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) requires the use of an irrigating fluid to remove blood and debris to visualise the operating area. Despite modern technique, unpredictable amoumts of irrigating fluid, which usually consists of glycme 1.5% in sterile water, enters the circulation during nearly every routine TURP. LÄS MER
