  1. 1. Communication of life cycle assessment results : life cycle key performance indicators

    Författare :Helena Nydahl; Thomas Olofsson; Anders P. Åstrand; Staffan Andersson; Åsa Wahlström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life Cycle Assessment; Monetary Valuation; Climate Impact; Life Cycle Key Performance Indicators; Global Warming Potential; LCA-result communication; Interpretation of LCA-results; climate change; klimatförändringar;

    Sammanfattning : The global warming that we are on track for will result in a severe loss of natural capital leading to significant losses in economic capital when urban infrastructure is destroyed, agricultural productivity declines and poverty spread among other disasters. Climate change due to emissions does not only affect the polluter, the hazardous effects becomes evident on a global level. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Life-Cycle Costing : Applications and Implementations in Bridge Investment and Management

    Författare :Mohammed Safi; Raid Karoumi; Håkan Sundquist; Jan-Eric Nilsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bridge; Cost; Life Cycle Cost Analysis; Procurement; Investment; Management;

    Sammanfattning : A well-maintained bridge infrastructure is a fundamental necessity for a modern society that provides great value, but ensuring that it meets all the requirements sustainably and cost-effectively is challenging. Bridge investment and management decisions generally involve selection from multiple alternatives. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental Considerations in the Zero-waste Valorisation of Bauxite Residue : A Life Cycle Perspective

    Författare :Peter James Joyce; Anna Björklund; Hellweg Stefanie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Life Cycle Assessment LCA ; bauxite residue; waste valorisation; Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials NORM ; Life Cycle Thinking; LCA software; Circular Economy; Livscykelanalys LCA ; bauxitrest; avfallsvalorisering; naturligt förekommande radioaktiva ämnen NORM ; livscykeltänkande; LCA-programvara; cirkulär ekonomi; Planering och beslutsanalys; Planning and Decision Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Bauxite residue, also known as red mud, is produced in large quantities as a result of alumina refining (the first stage in aluminium production), and is one of the world’s most abundant and important industrial wastes. As demand for aluminium continues to increase and space to store this residue diminishes, the potential to utilise bauxite residue as a secondary resource is increasingly being considered by the alumina industry. 4. 4. System Expansion and Allocation in Life Cycle Assessment With Implications for Wastepaper Management

    Författare :Tomas Ekvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modelling; paper recycling; waste incineration; environmental life cycle assessment; LCI methodology; allocation; waste management; system expansion; system boundaries; life cycle inventory analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The choice of system boundaries and allocation methods can have decisive effects on the results and conclusions of a life cycle assessment (LCA). System expansion makes it possible to model the indirect effects of a decision; however, this modelling is often based on inaccurate assumptions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Environmental Life-cycle Assessment in Microelectronics Packaging

    Författare :Anders Andrae; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System-In-a-Package; microelectronics packaging; data collection; attributional environmental life-cycle assessment; uncertainty analysis; upstream processes; consequential life-cycle assessment; environmental life-cycle inventory; microelectronic products;

    Sammanfattning : An increased understanding of the application of environmental Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies in the microelectronics packaging area should help in developing environmentally sound product systems. The aim of the present thesis is to increase the knowledge of using LCA tools, methods and models, in application to current and new microelectronic products. LÄS MER
