  1. 1. Probabilistic System Effects in Timber Structures

    Författare :Martin Hansson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; Anläggningsteknik; Construction technology; first order reliability method; Monte Carlo simulation; system effect; sheathed parallel member system; structural timber; roof truss;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the performed research presented in this thesis is to increase the understanding of the effect of variability of strength properties on the reliability of timber structural systems. Compared to other structural materials such as steel and concrete, structural timber has a considerably higher variability of strength both within and between members. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sea Level Compensation System for Wave Energy Converters

    Författare :Valeria Castellucci; Rafael Waters; Ronan Costello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ocean energy; Tides; Linear generator; Point absorber; Offshore experiment; Hydro-mechanic modeling; Power absorption; Control system; Communication system; Measurement system; Lysekil research site; Wave Hub.;

    Sammanfattning : The wave energy converter developed at Uppsala University consists of a linear generator at the seabed driven by the motion of a buoy on the water surface. The energy absorbed by the generator is negatively affected by variations of the mean sea level caused by tides, changes in barometric pressure, strong winds, and storm surges. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Talet om tekniska system : förväntningar, traditioner och skolverkligheter

    Författare :Claes Klasander; Thomas Ginner; Jan-Erik Hagberg; Thomas Kaiserfeld; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : I samhället uppmärksammas tekniken för sin ökande komplexitet och systemiska karaktär. l vilken mån avspeglar sig detta i skolans teknikämne? Denna avhandling berör undervisning om tekniska system i ett skolperspektiv, med det huvudsakliga syftet att undersöka hur undervisning om tekniska system tas upp till behandling i skolan. LÄS MER

  4. 4. System analysis of kitesurfing : Understanding performance and injury risk for on-water board sports

    Författare :Lina Lundgren; Sofia Brorsson; Anna-Lisa Osvalder; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sport performance; sport injury; musculoskeletal stress; system analysis; usability problems; human movement; Sports; Idrott; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Board sports are examples of sports where the interaction of the task, environment and the athlete are essential. As for other sports, there are injuries and other issues associated with these sports, which affect performance and that can be avoided by proper preparation and well- designed equipment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The endocannabinoid system : a translational study from Achilles tendinosis to cyclooxygenase

    Författare :Emmelie Björklund; Christopher Fowler; Peter Zygmunt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous cannabinoids anandamide (arachidonoyl ethanolamide, AEA) and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) exert their effect by activating cannabinoid receptors (CB). These receptors mediate a broad range of physiological functions such as beneficial effects in pain and inflammation, although little is known about the expression of CB receptors in human pain conditions.
