  1. 21. Structural aspects of binding and transport proteins : By Barnali Neel Chaudhuri

    Författare :Barnali Neel Chaudhuri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Binding and transport proteins are essential for the transport of nutrients, vitamins, hormones, pheromones, etc. to their target destinations. Lipid-binding proteins typically contain an internal cavity where the hydrophobic/amphipathic ligands bind. Transport proteins with binding clefts for water-soluble sugars have different architectures. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Function of wobble nucleoside modifications in tRNAs of Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium

    Författare :Peng Chen; Glenn R. Björk; Paul Agris; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; tRNA; wobble nucleoside; frameshifting; translation; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Transfer RNA from all organisms has modified nucleosides and position 34 (the wobble position) is one of the most extensively modified positions. Some wobble nucleoside modifications restrict codon choice (e.g. 5-methylaminomethyl-2-thiouridine, mnm5s2U) while some extend the decoding capacity (e. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Aspects of interferon alpha signalling in hematopoetic cells

    Författare :Lennart Carlsson; erik lundgren; Ulrich Kalinke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; interferon; human; B-lymphocyte; survival; proliferation; myeloma; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The type I interferons (IFN) are a family of cytokines with pleiothropic activities that include inhibition of viral replication, cell proliferation and activation of the immune system. These properties give the IFNs important physiological and pathological roles in infection and cancer and have led to their therapeutic use for many clinical conditions. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Combining Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic Biology Approaches for the Production of Abscisic Acid in Yeast

    Författare :Maximilian Otto; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabolic engineering; Botrytis cinerea; cell factory; abscisic acid; synthetic biology; biosensor; sesquiterpenoid; standardization; Saccharomyces cerevisiae;

    Sammanfattning : Nature presents us with a myriad of complex and diverse molecules. Many of these molecules prove to be useful to humans and find applications as pharmaceuticals, biofuels, agrochemicals, cosmetic ingredients or food additives. One highly promising natural product with a broad range of potential applications is the terpenoid abscisic acid (ABA). LÄS MER

  5. 25. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers at the Nanometric Scale: Synthetic Receptors for Chemical Sensors

    Författare :Anne-Sophie Belmont; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biopolymers; Polymer technology; Biokemisk teknik; Biochemical technology; Nanostructures; Synthetic Receptors; Optical Sensors; Molecular Imprinting; Polymer; Polymerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, polymerisation techniques or deposition methods have been developed permitting the creation of thin molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) films or patterns and their interfacing with transducer surfaces for biosensor applications. The creation of ultra thin films has been achieved using two different techniques, spin-coating and in-situ polymerization of thin films of monomers containing a sacrificial polymeric porogen, and autoassembly of MIP nanoparticles with the aid of an associative linear polymer.
