  1. 6. Surface Plasmon Resonance for the Detection of Coagulation and Protein Interactions

    Författare :Trine Platou Vikinge; Elisabeth Hall; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Medical improvements rely on methodological inventions and developments and on the steadily increasing knowledge of human physiology. This thesis presents methodological developments enabling the study of body fluid interactions with a material surface under more realistic and physiologically relevant conditions than previously possible. 2. 7. Fluorescence-based ligand assays for protein detection using affibody affinity proteins

    Författare :Björn Renberg; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; Per-Åke Nygren; Jörg Hoheisel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody molecules; biosensors; FRET; immobilisation; solid-phase synthesis; protein microarrays; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The detection and quantification of biomolecules, and proteins in particular, are of great interest since these molecules are of fundamental importance to our well-being. Body fluids, as for instance human blood, are well suited for sampling of protein levels. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry as a Tool for Drug Metabolite Identification in Biological Fluids : With Application to Ketobemidone

    Författare :Ingela Sundström; Per Andrén; Douglas Westerlund; Monika Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Analytical chemistry; LC-MS MS; accurate mass measurement; drug metabolites; microdialysate; brain; fluorinated stationary phase; phenylboronic acid; retention mechanism; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS) in combination with liquid chromatography (LC) is an excellent tool for the identification of drug metabolites. Utilizing this hyphenated technique in combination with proper sample pretreatment, the metabolic pathways of the analgesic drug ketobemidone were investigated in human urine and rat microdialysate from blood and brain. Sammanfattning : Do metal particles (including particles of pure metals, alloys, metal oxides and compounds) pose a hazard or risk to human health? In the light of this question, this thesis summarizes results from research conducted on metal particles, and describes the elaboration and implementation of an in vitro test methodology to study metal release from particles through corrosion and dissolution processes in synthetic biological media relevant for human exposure through inhalation/ingestion and dermal contact. Bioaccessible metals are defined as the pool of released metals from particles that potentially could be made available for absorption by humans or other organisms. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Micro- and Nanostructures for Studies of Model Biological Systems

    Författare :Cassandra Niman; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Niman;

    Sammanfattning : Sub-cellular biological components are complex systems that work together to control and maintain cellular activity and health. It is useful to study the basic elements that constitute the sub-cellular components using model systems, which mimic certain parts of the overall system, in order to better understand the system as a whole.
