1. Amino acid-catalyzed synthesis of amino acid derivatives : Application and semi-synthesis of Paclitaxel, Docetaxel and their derivatives
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with different applications of organocatalysis, where amino acid derivatives and small peptides are applied as catalysts. First, the development of environmentally friendly aldol reactions, carried out in aqueous media is illustrated. The corresponding β-hydroxy ketones are formed with ee´s up to 99%. LÄS MER
2. Chemoenzymatic methods for the syntesis of pine sawfly sex peromones
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the syntheses of pine sawfly sexpheromones via two synthetic routes. The preparation ofenantiomerically pure building blocks for these is alsodescribed.Lipase catalysed methods were developed for either theresolution or desymmetrisation of building blocks. LÄS MER
3. Design, Synthesis, and Structure-Activity Relationships Analysis of Potential Inhibitors of the Serine Protease Thrombin and the Malarial Aspartic Proteases Plasmepsin I and II
Sammanfattning : The design, synthesis, and structure-activity relationships analysis of some potential protease inhibitors are outlined in this thesis. In particular, the serine protease thrombin and the malarial aspartic proteases plasmepsin I and II (Plm I and II) are described in regard to the roles they play in living organisms, and that is followed by discussions concerning the design, synthesis, and biological test results of inhibitors of these enzymes. 4. Effects of Denervation and Infravesical Obstruction in the Rat Urinary Bladder
Sammanfattning : Median micturition volume decreased early after partial outlet obstruction, 24 hrs total obstruction and hemidenervation. Degeneration release of transmitter may explain this, assuming that bladder wall distension causes nerve degeneration. LÄS MER
5. Helicobacter pylori interference with the L-arginine/NO pathway in the upper gut
Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori causes chronic gastritis and sometimes peptic ulcers but the pathogenesis is not fully understood. H. pylori-infected individuals with duodenal ulcer have an impaired duodenal mucosal bicarbonate secretion (DMBS) in response to acid. NO is an important signalling molecule in the body. LÄS MER
