  1. 1. Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy and Spectroscopy of Adsorbates on Aluminium and Silicon

    Författare :Mikael Johansson; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alkali metals; Scanning tunnelling spectroscopies; Scanning tunnelling microscopy; Photoelectron Spectroscopy; Single crystal surface; Silicon; Surface structure; Aluminium; Silicides; Fullerenes.; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Johansson;

    Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is the investigation of atomic andmolecular adsorbates on single crystal surfaces of silicon and aluminiumusing the techniques of scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) andspectroscopy (STS). The emphasis has been to use atomic-resolutionspectroscopy and imaging to determine the relationship between thesurfaces' geometric and electronic structures. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Novel approaches to the environments and ecosystems of the fish-tetrapod transition

    Författare :Hannah Byrne; Per Ahlberg; Grzegorz Niedzwiedzki; Henning Blom; Benjamin P. Kear; Matt Friedman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish-tetrapod transition; synchrotron scanning; tides; coprolites; Carboniferous;

    Sammanfattning : The fish-tetrapod transition is one of the most important evolutionary events in Earth’s history, giving rise to terrestrial vertebrates around 390 million years ago. It set the stage for a series of evolutionary events that ultimately resulted in modern-day terrestrial vertebrates including ourselves. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Synchrotron X-ray based characterization of technologically relevant III-V surfaces and nanostructures

    Författare :Andrea Troian; NanoLund: Center for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; synchrotron radiation; III-V semiconductors; high-k oxides; passivation; doping; XPS; AP-XPS; SPEM; XRF; full field X-ray diffraction microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Troian;

    Sammanfattning : Innovative design and materials are needed to satisfy the demand for efficient and scalable devices for electronic and opto-electronic applications, such as transistors, LEDs, and solar cells. Nanostructured III-V semiconductors are an appealing solution, combining the excellent functional properties of III-V materials with the flexibility typical of nanostructures, such as the nanowires (NWs) studied here. 4. 4. Vacuum Ultraviolet Scanning Photoelectron Microscopy, Instrumentation & Applications

    Författare :Ulf Johansson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoelectron Microscopy; Spectromicroscopy; Photoemission; Silicon; Oxide desorption; High-Tc superconductor; Physics; Ellipsoidal mirror; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Johansson;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design and characterisation of a vacuum ultraviolet scanning photoelectron microscope as well as results from studies of laterally inhomogeneous surfaces. The instrument utilises synchrotron radiation from an undulator at the 550 MeV storage ring at the MAX-laboratory. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the studies of native and anodic oxides on both aluminum model single crystal surfaces as well as on aluminum alloys found in applications are presented. The focus has been on the characterization in situ as the oxide is growing by an electrochemical process called anodization. LÄS MER
