    Sammanfattning :  What can we learn by studying an art organization? This thesis is an ethnographic study with an hermeneutic approach of a symphony orchestra, five conductors and the management of a concert hall, trying to answer that question. The main focus of the study is to describe what goes on between individuals or groups of individuals, that is, the relations between the orchestra members, between orchestra members and conductors and between orchestra members and management.     Sammanfattning : The intention of this dissertation is to provide a portrait of Hilding Rosenberg´s musical work "The Revelation of S:t John" (1940), for a large orchestra, chorus and recitation (recitative), through illuminating the work´s history of origin and basic literary and musical structure. As a composition initially intended for broadcast over the radio, the form and content of "The Revelation of S:t John" was to a great degree determined by the conditions dictated by radio at the time.     Sammanfattning : 'SHUT UP ’N’ PLAY! Negotiating the Musical Work’ is a piece of artistic research that attempts to merge artistic practice, qualitative research methods and critical analysis in a project concerned with contemporary performance practices, and specifically how these practices are created and transmitted in the interaction between composer and performer. By way of a critical reading of the musico-philosophical discussion of the ontology of the musical work and by way of a deconstruction of the concept of musical interpretation I propose a model in which the identity of the musical work is analysed as the result of interaction between multiple agents: composer, performer, instrument, score and electronics, among others.
