16. Chloride Induced Corrosion of Steel Bars in Fibre Reinforced Concrete
Sammanfattning : Chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement is the most widespread degradation mechanism affecting the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Macro-cracks provide a preferential path for moisture, oxygen and Cl ions to reach the embedded reinforcement, playing a major role in their total transport. LÄS MER
17. Multifunctional nanomaterials for diagnostic and therapeutic applications
Sammanfattning : In the past few years, the use of nanostructured materials in medical applications hasdramatically increased, both in the research phase and for clinical purposes, due to thepeculiar properties and the ability of such materials to interact at a similar scale withbiological entities. In this thesis, we developed tailored magnetic multifunctionalnanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, such as detection ofbiomolecules, simultaneous enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fluorescentvisualization and controlled drug release. 18. Open Government Data as a Reform and Ecosystem : A conceptual framework for evolution and health
Sammanfattning : Introduction: This doctoral thesis in Information Systems disentangles the interplay of an OGD reform and an OGD ecosystem. Open government data (OGD) refers to data shared by public organizations, in the role of providers, following certain principles for anyone to reuse. LÄS MER
19. Human periodontal mechanoreceptors : functional properties and role in jaw motor control
Sammanfattning : Periodontal mechanoreceptors signal information about tooth loads to the central nervous system and are considered to be important for the control of oral motor behaviors, like biting and chewing. Surprisingly, very little is known about the functional properties of periodontal mechanoreceptors at posterior teeth. LÄS MER
20. Stimulated autogenous self-healing of mechanically and thermally cracked cementitious materials
Sammanfattning : It is estimated that each year, approximately 8 billion cubic meters of concrete are produced worldwide, a vast number comparable to 1 m3 per person, making the construction industry a major contributor to overall global CO2 emissions. Throughout the manufacturing process of the most common cement binder, ordinary Portland cement (OPC), CO2 emissions reach 842 kg per ton of clinker produced. LÄS MER
