    Sammanfattning : Sustainability control is grounded in pragmatic research traditions which imply that the design of formalised sustainability control systems (de-signed by managers) is enough to ensure strategic plans are met in re-sponse to external accountability demands. Through this, the individualis-ing aspects of control in a hierarchical accountability sense are empha-sised, and the main accountability relationship becomes between the supe-rior and subordinate.     Sammanfattning : The thesis shows how different aspects of sustainable development have been handled or not handled in the third generation infrastructure development in Sweden. The difference between the design of the 3G development – emphazising competition, growth and regional access, based on a strong technological optimism - and the implementation, as the roll out struck the landscape, including the non-handled radiation issue and the legal changes in order to facilitate the roll out, is discussed and analyzed.     Sammanfattning : Paper 1 (with Catalin Starica): This study conducts an in-depth analysis of the association between a unique ten-dimensional set of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scores and firm profitability, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). We find that non-linear (semi or non-parametric) regression methods bring important improvements in explaining profitability relative to a classical linear approach. LÄS MER
