  1. 1. Investigation of microstructure and porosity of columnar yttria-stabilized zirconia coatings produced by axial suspension plasma spraying

    Författare :Johanna Ekberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray microscopy; thermal barrier coatings; NMR cryoporometry; suspension plasma spraying; scanning electron microscopy; porosity measurements;

    Sammanfattning : Ceramic topcoats provide thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with its heat insulating properties. The heat transfer is primarily occurring by conduction through the bulk material, therefore features such as interfaces, pores and grain boundaries are essential for thermal insulation as they act as scattering sites. Sammanfattning : Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are widely used on gas turbine components to provide thermal insulation, which in combination with advanced cooling, can enable the gas turbine to operate at significantly higher temperatures even above the melting temperature of the metallic components. There is a permanent need,mainly due to environmental reasons, to increase the combustion temperature inturbines, hence new TBC solutions are needed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Suspension plasma sprayed thermal barrier coatings for internal combustion engines

    Författare :Wellington Uczak de Goes; Nicolaie Markocsan; Mohit Kumar Gupta; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal Barrier Coatings; Suspension Plasma Spraying; Gadolinium Zirconate; Internal Combustion Engines; Engine Efficiency; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The upward trend in internal combustion engine efficiency is likely driven by the depletion of fossil fuels. Since no replacement in sight can deliver energy comparable to the conventional oil, there is a need to use it more rationally and effectively. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Thermal barrier coatings (TBC’s) are used to provide both thermal insulation and oxidation protection to high temperature components within gas turbines. The development of turbines for power generation and aviation has led to designs where the operation conditions exceed the upper limits of most conventional engineering materials. LÄS MER
