1. A palaeolimnological study of the anthropogenic impact on dissolved organic carbon in South Swedish lakes
Sammanfattning : During the past three decades, increases have been observed in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations and colour in the surface waters of lakes and rivers in parts of Europe and North America, raising concern about the effects on the quality of aquatic environments with consequences for biodiversity, resource availability and recreational use. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the recent increases in DOC concentration and numerous studies have been published linking them to declining anthropogenic atmospherically deposited sulphur. 2. Accelerate ageing of refuse-derived-fuel (RDF) fly ashes
Sammanfattning : Ashes have properties that can be exploited in various applications, e.g. some ashes can be used in the construction of barriers in a landfill final top cover. LÄS MER
3. Catalytic Reduction of NOx on Heavy-Duty Trucks
Sammanfattning : The objective of the work described in this thesis is to identify the principles and parts of an aftertreatment system for the catalytic NOx reduction for heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and to demonstrate such a system in full-scale. The reducing agent is diesel fuel. LÄS MER
4. Laser Remote Sensing for Environmental Monitoring
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the techniques of laser remote sensing and their applications in environmental monitoring, as documented in several published papers. The environment where the human being live is degrading with an accelerating speed. LÄS MER
5. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF).
