  1. 1. Insights into the effect of myocardial revascularisation on electrical and mechanical cardiac function

    Författare :Ihab Ramzy Guirguis; Michael Y Henein; Stellan Mörner; Reidar Winter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardial infarction; natriuretic peptides; echocardiography; ventricular function; atrial function; surgical revascularisation; speckle tracking echocardiography; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Acute coronary syndrome is known for its effect on cardiac function and can lead to impaired segmental and even global myocardial function. Evidence exists that myocardial revascularisation whether pharmacological, interventional or surgical results in improvement of systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) function, particularly that of the long axis which represents the sub-endocardial function, known as the most sensitive layer to ischaemia. 2. 2. Acute limb ischaemia : Treatment, outcome and time trends

    Författare :Olivia Grip; Martin Bjöck; Clark Zeebregts; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Acute limb ischaemi; Treatment; Open revascularisation; Endovascular revascularisation; Outcome; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Acute limb ischaemia (ALI) is a frequent emergency associated with high rates of amputation and death. Traditionally, patients with ALI were treated with open surgical removal of the occlusion or bypass surgery. During the past few decades, new endovascular techniques developed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On costochondral grafts replacing mandibular condyles in juvenile chronic arthritis. A clinical, histological and experimental study

    Författare :Börje Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; juvenile chronic arthritis; temporomandibular joints; temporomandibular disorders; costochondral grafts; growth; revascularisation; microangiography; fluorochrome labelling.;

    Sammanfattning : In children with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA), disturbances of mandibular growth and function may result in involvement of the temporomandibular joints (TMJs). The aim of this thesis was to study the stomatognathic system in JCA children and long-term effects on facial growth of treatment comprising replacement of arthritic mandibular condyles with autogenous costochondral grafts (CCGs) during growth. 4. 4. Inflammatory Response in Peripheral Arterial Disease

    Författare :Peter Danielsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muskelsystem; reumatologi; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; Skeleton; Polymorphism; Metabolism; Prostacyclin; Microdislysis; Diabetes mellitus; Revascularisation; Angioplasty; Endothelial cells; White blood cells; Inflammation; Peripheral Arterial Disease; muscle system;

    Sammanfattning : Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is the manifestation of atherosclerotic lesions in arteries supplying blood to the legs. Atherosclerosis is now recognized as an inflammatory disease of the vessel wall and important features in the pathophysiology are activation of WBC, endothelial cells and increased levels of inflammatory mediators. 5. 5. On Acute Thrombo-Embolic Occlusion of the Superior Mesenteric Artery

    Författare :Stefan Acosta; Martin Björck; Mats Ögren; Bengt Lindblad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; acute thrombo-embolic occlusion; superior mesenteric artery; intestinal infarction; D-Dimer; intestinal revascularisation; population-based study; incidence; autopsy; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Acute thrombo-embolic occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) with intestinal infarction is a lethal disease, difficult to diagnose in time, with unknown incidence and cause-specific mortality. The aim of this thesis was to characterize the disease and to develop diagnostic methods. LÄS MER
