  1. 1. Surface reactivity of metal nanoparticles : - importance of surface active agents and biomolecules from a transformation, mobility and toxicity perspective

    Författare :Sara Skoglund; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Lars Österlund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metal nanoparticles; surfactants; metal release; characterization; size distribution; nanotoxicology; risk assessment; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Metallic nanoparticles possess unique properties due to their size and are widely used in e.g. consumer products. From this follows a need to identify and assess potential risks of human and environmental exposure. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Surface Stabilization and Electrochemical Properties from a Theoretical Perspective

    Författare :Daniel Petrini; Karin Larsson; Jan-Otto Carlsson; Martin Stutzmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Inorganic chemistry; DFT; Diamond; High surface conductivity; Surface reactivity; c-BN; Oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Diamond and cubic boron nitride surfaces have extreme properties that can be exploited in novel tribological, electrochemical and electronic applications. Normally insulating diamond surfaces can exhibit high surface conductivities due to hydrogen termination and the nature of the surrounding atmosphere. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Reactivity of Transition-Metal Compounds from Electronic Structure

    Författare :Aleksandra Vojvodic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic edge states; electronic structure; density-functional theory; growth; surface states and resonances; nitrides; density of states; hydrodesulphurisation; sulphides; steam reforming; transition-metal carbides; Bronsted-Evans Polanyi relation; scaling relations; adsorption; descriptor; reactivity; catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Transition-metal carbides (TMC's), nitrides, and sulfides belong to the class of materials known as transition-metal compounds (TMX's). Besides having intriguing properties, these materials are relevant for, e.g., growth and catalysis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dissolving pulp : Multivariate Characterisation and Analysis of Reactivity and Spectroscopic Properties

    Författare :Kristina Elg Christoffersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Dissolving pulp; reactivity; solid state 13C NMR spectroscopy; NIR spectroscopy; multivariate analysis; cellulose; viscose; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Various chemical properties can be used to characterise dissolving pulp. The quality of the pulp must be carefully controlled to ensure that it meets the requirements for its intended use and the further processes to be applied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A surface approach to understanding the dissolution of fluorite type materials : Implications for mineral dissolution kinetic models

    Författare :José Ricardo Assunção Godinho; Sandra Piazolo; Andreas Lüttge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissolution; topography; fluorite; surface; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional dissolution models are based in the analyses of bulk solution compositions and ignore the fact that different sites of a surface dissolve at different rates. Consequently, the variation of surface area and surface reactivity during dissolution are not considered for the calculation of the overall dissolution rate, which is expected to remain constant with time.
