  1. 11. Preparation and characterization of graphene/metal composites

    Författare :Kristoffer Harr Martinsen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; graphene oxide; metal matrix composite; Copper; surface functionalization; anticorrosion.;

    Sammanfattning : Since the isolation of graphene in 2004, much research has been conducted to understand this novel material and how its properties can be utilized in different applications. One type of venture involves graphene as a reinforcing filler in metal matrix composites (MMC) which is becoming increasingly prevalent in the automotive and aerospace industries. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Thermoset polymers and coatings subjected to high compressive loads

    Författare :Daniel Ståhlberg; Mats Johansson; Gijsbertus de With; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymers; organic coating; thermoset; mechanical properties; compression; Surface engineering; Ytbehandlingsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This study describes the mechanical response of thermoset polymers under high compressive loads. The study is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the behaviour of a powder coating when used in a clamping force joint and how the properties vary when the chemical and physical structure of the coating is changed. 3. 13. Charge Development at Iron Oxyhydroxide Surfaces : The Interplay between Surface Structure, Particle Morphology and Counterion Identity

    Författare :Philipp A. Kozin; Jean-François Boily; Michael Kersten; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iron oxyhydroxides; adsorption; mineral-water interface; electrolyte; surface roughness; pores;

    Sammanfattning : Iron (oxyhydr)oxide (FeOOH) minerals play important roles in various natural, technological and societal settings. The widespread abundance of these minerals has prompted numerous studies on their surface reactivity in aqueous media. Surface charge development, one that namely takes place through the adsorption of potential determining ions (p.d. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Effect of large shear deformation on fatigue crack behavior in pearlitic rail steel

    Författare :Daniel Gren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pearlitic steel; Anisotropy; Torsional loading; Fatigue crack propagation; Uniaxial loading; Pre-deformation;

    Sammanfattning : The impacts from global warming and climate change continue to rise and securing the needs of future generations requires a transition to a climate-neutral society. Rail transportation, as being one of the safest and most energy efficient modes of transportation offers a sustainable alternative to fossil-fueled based transportation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Surface modification of cellulose materials : from wood pulps to artificial blood vessels

    Författare :Lage Ahrenstedt; Harry Brumer; Lars Wågberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the improvement of two radically different cellulose materials, paper and artificial blood vessels, constructed from two diverse cellulose sources, wood pulp and Acetobacter xylinum. The improvement of both materials was possible due to the natural affinity of the hemicellulose xyloglucan for cellulose. LÄS MER
