6. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied. 7. Fuel conversion and ash formation interactions : a thermochemical study on lignocellulosic biomass
Sammanfattning : Biomass is considered to be CO2 neutral, and to be able to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels the need for expanded and sustainable biomass feedstock is increasing. Ash-related problems are some of the most important aspects of this increasing use of new biomass assortments in thermal energy conversion systems. LÄS MER
8. Fiber-Supported Hydrogels with Controlled surface Properties
Sammanfattning : Hydrogels are emerging materials that have the ability to hold a substantial amount of water. However, the low mechanical performance of hydrogels is often a limitation for extending the field of applications. LÄS MER
9. Metal Particles – Hazard or Risk? Elaboration and Implementation of a Research Strategy from a Surface and Corrosion Perspective
Sammanfattning : Do metal particles (including particles of pure metals, alloys, metal oxides and compounds) pose a hazard or risk to human health? In the light of this question, this thesis summarizes results from research conducted on metal particles, and describes the elaboration and implementation of an in vitro test methodology to study metal release from particles through corrosion and dissolution processes in synthetic biological media relevant for human exposure through inhalation/ingestion and dermal contact. Bioaccessible metals are defined as the pool of released metals from particles that potentially could be made available for absorption by humans or other organisms. LÄS MER
10. Functional Properties and Morphology of Recycled Post-consumer WEEE Thermoplastic Blends
Sammanfattning : This work concerns a waste electrical and electronic equipment blend of recycled plastics (WEEEBR), reprocessed from a low density thermoplastics batch (600 kg) by removal of non-thermoplastic contamination (1.2 weight % (wt%)). LÄS MER
