    Sammanfattning : The thesis has two aims: to investigate social support - informal as well as formal and professional support - as a type of help and to find concepts to describe, analyse and understand support processes in the workplace network. The thesis is based on interviews with individuals who were sicklisted for a lenghty period and their support providers at the workplace, approximately 60 interviews related to the provision and receipt of support were carried out at the Swedish Post office and District Health Care in Gothenburg, Sweden.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to investigate breast cancer patients’ experiences of their illness and of traditional nursing care (TNC) or supportive nursing care (SNC) respectively, as well as nurses' experiences of support and of caring for cancer patients. An intervention including extended co-operation between the surgical ward and primary health care, shorter waiting times, and changed routines concerning the information about the diagnosis, as well as training and systematic clinical supervision for the nurses, was implemented.     Sammanfattning : The aim of thesis was to investigate the nurse-patient encounter in dementia care (n=9 patients), functional and cognitive ability, behaviours and mood of the patients as well as the reliability of the instruments used (n=75 nursing home patients). A further aim was to investigate the effects on the aspects mentioned above of a one-year controlled intervention (individually planned care and clinical group supervision) on one ward (EW) in comparison to a control ward (CW), each housing 11 patients.     Sammanfattning : In both the private and work spheres, multitasking among three or more activities has become and is continuing to evolve as a pervasive element of everyday life, and recent technological advances only seem to be exacerbating the process. Despite attempts to understand the mental processes that let humans successfully multitask, little is known about the functional cognitive level at which these mental processes take place. LÄS MER
