6. Rangeland and livestock management practices for improved herder livelihoods in miombo woodland
Sammanfattning : Rangelands are valuable resources for livestock production and contribute positively to herders livelihoods. The shrinking of open rangelands used for grazing has led to utilization of miombo woodlands as alternative grazing resource. Miombo woodlands are biomes with both understory herbaceous species and relatively dense tree cover. LÄS MER
7. Finding graze time - combining grazing with automatic milking

Grazing is a natural behaviour of cattle, and the opportunity to go outdoors is often considered a component of animal welfare. LÄS MER
8. Modeling of Pulverised Wood Flames
Sammanfattning : The aim of the current work was at development and validation of modeling tools for simulation of pulverised wood flames in furnaces and study how different factors influence on such flames. The numerical model involves different sub-models for the physo-chemical processes, such as, two-phase flow motion, drying, devolatilization and shrinkage of particles, the formation and oxidation of volatile, tar and char, turbulence-chemistry interaction, turbulence-radiation interaction, etc. LÄS MER
9. To survive and reproduce in a cyclic environment – demography and conservation of the Arctic fox in Scandinavia
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the conservation and life history of the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) in Scandinavia. The Arctic fox was historically a widely distributed species in the Scandinavian mountain tundra with a population size of approximately 10 000 individuals during years with high resource availability, i.e. rodent peaks. 10. Vitamin A Intake, Status and Improvement Using the Dietary Approach : Studies of Vulnerable Groups in Three Asian Countries
Sammanfattning : Studies were performed on methodological issues on vitamin A intake, status and improvement in three Asian countries, to improve the dietary approach recommended by FAO/WHO to alleviate vitamin A deficiency in low-income countries. The reliability of the practical 24-hour dietary recall method to assess individual intake of vitamin A during pregnancy was investigated in Central Java, Indonesia.
