1. Transport in mesoscopic superconducting devices
Sammanfattning : A field of growing interest within the last few decades is the study of superconductivity in mesoscopic-scale heterostructures. Mesoscopic refers to sizes between the atomic and macroscopic scales. LÄS MER
2. Antenna Integrated Superconducting Mixers
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the prospects of some different superconducting mixers integrated with planar antennas for the millimeter and submillimeter regime. Two kinds of Superconductor/Insulator/Superconductor (SIS) tunnel junctions for use in mixers have been fabricated; Nb/PbBi edge junctions and Nb trilayer junctions. LÄS MER
3. Parametrically pumped superconducting circuits
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, I present the design, fabrication, and characterization of superconducting parametric resonators, for use in quantum information processing. These devices are quarter-wavelength coplanar waveguide resonators (~5 GHz), terminated at one end by a non-linear inductance provided by a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device). 4. Fast dynamics and measurements of single-charge devices
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present measurements on several different devices, including the single-Cooper-pair box (SCB), the single-electron box, tunable superconducting resonators and so called transmon qubits.By exploiting the quantum capacitance of the SCB, its state was measured by embedding the box in a radio-frequency resonator. 5. Slow propagation line-based superconducting devices for quantum technology
Sammanfattning : In the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics (c-QED), the coherent interaction of two-level systems (TLSs) with photons, confined in a superconducting microwaveresonator, opens up new possibilities for quantum computing experiments. This thesis contributes to the expansion of c-QED tool-box with slow propagation line-based solutions for ubiquitous techniques, such as cryogenic Near Field Scanning Microwave Microscopy (NSMM), Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy and Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifier (TWPA).
