  1. 1. Heme-copper oxidases and nitric oxide : Reaction mechanisms and supercomplex formation

    Författare :Ingrid Albertsson; Pia Ädelroth; Alessandro Giuffrè; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Heme-copper oxidase; nitrite reductase; nitric oxide reductase; nitric oxide; supercomplex; Paracoccus denitrificans; denitrification pathway; proton transfer pathway; C-type oxidase; Helicobacter pylori; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In the denitrification process where nitrate is stepwise reduced to nitrogen gas, the toxic molecule nitric oxide (NO) is formed as an intermediate. Nitric oxide is produced by the enzyme cd1 Nitrite reductase (cd1NiR) by reduction of nitrite and is later reduced to nitrous oxide by nitric oxide reductase (cNOR). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural characterisation of mitochondrial macromolecular complexes using cryo-EM : Mitoribosome biogenesis and respiratory chain supercomplex

    Författare :Sorbhi Rathore; Martin Ott; Daniel Wilson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mitochondria; mitoribosome biogenesis; mitoribosome assembly factors; yeast respiratory supercomplexes; single particle electron cryo-microscopy; cryo-EM sample preparation; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria, popularly known as powerhouse of the cell, contain specialised mitoribosomes that synthesise essential membrane proteins. These essential proteins are required to form enzyme complexes, which carry out the process of oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Wiring Components of the Respiratory Chain : Modulation of the Respiratory Chain in Yeast and Bacteria

    Författare :Jacob Schäfer; Peter Brzezinski; Dennis Winge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cytochrome c oxidase; Electron transfer; Membrane protein; Ligand; Kinetics; Mechanism; Rcf1; Cytochrome c; Respiratory supercomplex; Cryo-electron microscopy; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The enzyme complexes of the respiratory chain are organized in supramolecular assemblies, so-called respiratory supercomplexes. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, these supercomplexes consist of two copies of complex III (bc1 complex) and one or two copies of complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase, CytcO). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Functions of REP27 and the low molecular weight proteins PsbX and PsbW in repair and assembly of photosystem II

    Författare :Jose Gines Garcia Cerdan; Wolfgang Schröder; Eva-Mari Aro; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Photosynthesis; photosystem II reaction center; PSII-LHCII supercomplex; antisense plant; T-DNA knockout plant; auxiliary protein; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning :     Oxygenic photosynthesis is the major producer of both oxygen and organic compounds on earth and takes place in plants, green algae and cyanobacteria. The thylakoid membranes are the site of the photosynthetic light reactions that involve the concerted action of four major protein complexes known as photosystem II (PSII), cytochrome b6f complex, ATP synthase and photosystem I (PSI). 5. 5. Effect of experimental complex III deficiency on respiratory chain assembly and function

    Författare :Mina Davoudi; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The assembly of respiratory chain complexes in the mitochondrial inner membrane requires specific factors. Once assembled to form a mature functional complex, complex III (CIII) is a dimer consisting of two monomers, each with eleven subunits. LÄS MER
