  1. 1. 3D super-resolution microscopy of living cells using reversibly switchable fluorophores

    Författare :Andreas Bodén; Ilaria Testa; Francisco Balzarotti; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RESOLFT; 3D imaging; super-resolution; microscopy; reversibly switchable fluorescent proteins; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional optical microscopy techniques are limited in spatial resolution due to the wave nature of light. This means that neighboring objects separated by a distance smaller than about 200 nm cannot be distinguished. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Super resolution fluorescence imaging : analyses, simulations and applications

    Författare :Jan Bergstrand; Jerker Widengren; Eilon Sherman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence methods offer extraordinary sensitivity and specificity, and are extensively used in the life sciences. In recent years, super resolution fluorescence imaging techniques have developed strongly, uniquely combining ~10 nm sub diffraction resolution and specific labeling with high efficiency. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Automated super-resolution microscopy for high-throughput imaging

    Författare :Xavier Casas Moreno; Ilaria Testa; Florian Jug; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RESOLFT; throughput; microscopy automation; nanoscopy; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence microscopes enable the visualization of biological samples with high contrast by labeling specific structures with fluorescent molecules. However, the spatial resolution of widely used microscopy techniques, such as widefield and confocal microscopy, is limited by the size of a focused spot of light, which roughly corresponds to half the wavelength of the illumination. 4. 4. Super-resolution Luminescence Micro-Spectroscopy : A nano-scale view of solar cell material photophysics

    Författare :Aboma Merdasa; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; super-resolution microscopy; Single Molecule Spectroscopy; J-aggregates; perovskites; photophysics;

    Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy is a fundamental tool in a range of disciplines encompassed by the physical and biological sciences. At the dawn of this millennium, a break-through was made in optical microscopy where super-resolution methods emerged and declared imaging beyond the optical diffraction limit a possibility. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Automating STED microscopy for functional and structural live-cell imaging

    Författare :Jonatan Alvelid; Ilaria Testa; Eggeling Christian; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; STED; microscopy; nanoscopy; super-resolution microscopy; automation; image analysis; fluorophores; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy imaging methods are today invaluable tools for studies in life sciences as they allow visualization of biological systems, tissues, cells, and sub-cellular compartments from millimetres down to nanometres. The invention and development of nanoscopy in the past 20 years has pushed fluorescence microscopy down to the nanoscale, reaching beyond the natural diffraction limit of light that does not allow focusing of visible light below sizes of around 200 nm, and into the realm of what was previously only thought possible with electron microscopy.
