1. Absorption Based Systems for Co-removal of Nitrogen Oxides and Sulfur Oxides from Flue Gases
Sammanfattning : Enhanced control of nitrogen and sulfur emissions, found in many of industrial processes, is anticipated for decades to come. Stricter emission regulations require new technologies adapted to the new conditions at reasonable cost. LÄS MER
2. Asymmetric and symmetric hydration of hydrated anions in aqueous solution
Sammanfattning : The interaction between solvent and solute is a very important chemical property that has large impact on the chemical reactions taking place. In Paper I and II the structure of hydrated sulfite, selenite and selenate in aqueous solutions are determined and compared. LÄS MER
3. In situ investigations of the metal/atmophere interface
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new experimental setup for surfaceanalysis studies, incorporating chemical information frominfrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) andquantitative information from quartz crystal microbalance(QCM). The integrated IRAS/QCM surface analysis system enablesin situstudies to be conducted of the metal/atmosphereinteraction on a sub-monolayer level. LÄS MER
4. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence
Sammanfattning : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 5. Lignin polysaccharide networks in softwood and chemical pulps : characterisation, structure and reactivity
Sammanfattning : The chemical interactions between the main wood components i.e., cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin are of fundamental importance for understanding the chemical aspects of wood formation and its reactivity during fibre processing e.g during chemical pulping of wood. LÄS MER
