1. Profitability = f(G) : Computational Thermodynamics, Materials Design and Process Optimization
Sammanfattning : The thesis starts by giving a motivation to materials modeling as a way to increase profitability but also a possibility decrease the environmental impact. Fundamental concepts of relevance for this work are introduced, this include the materials genome, ICME and of course the CALPHAD method. LÄS MER

3. Modelling long-term redox processes and oxygen scavenging in fractured crystalline rocks
4. Treatment of arsenic contaminated drinking water from the sources around the gold mining areas of Geita and Mara, Tanzania : Removal efficiency of locally available materials, bauxite, gypsum and magnesite
Sammanfattning : In recent years, high arsenic (As) levels of about 300 µg/L have been reported around the gold mining areas of Geita and Mara regions within the Lake Victoria basin (LVB) in Tanzania. During a sampling campaign at Geita and Mara, the groundwater and surface water samples revealed the presence of high As concentrations as well as Fe and sulfide. LÄS MER
5. Chemical Speciation of Sulfur and Metals in Biogas Reactors : Implications for Cobalt and Nickel Bio-uptake Processes
Sammanfattning : A balanced supply of micronutrients, including metals such as iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), and nickel (Ni), is required for the efficient and stable production of biogas. During biogas formation, the uptake of micronutrient metals by microorganisms is controlled by a complex network of biological and chemical reactions, in which reduced sulfur (S) compounds play a central role.
