  1. 6. Anaerobic digestion in the kraft pulp and paper industry : Challenges and possibilities for implementation

    Författare :Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Sammanfattning : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 2. 7. Aspects of optimizing pulp fibre properties for tissue and packaging materials

    Författare :Hafizur Rahman; Armando Cordova; Per Engstrand; Börje Norlin; Göran Bengtsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : To improve the competitive advantages of pulp fibre-based materials for tissue and packaging over fossil-based products, it is essential to increase knowledge of the selectivity of the cooking and the chemimechanical processes by optimizing the unit operations of impregnation, cooking and refining. A general goal in pulping processes is to achieve as efficient and even fibre separation as possible. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the production of paper, the quality of the pulp is an important factor both for the productivity and for the final quality. Reliable real-time measurements of pulp quality are therefore needed. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Aspects of extended impregnation kraft cooking for high-yield pulping of hardwood

    Författare :Helena Wedin; Mikael E. Lindström; Martin Ragnar; Jorge L. Colodette; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Yield; pulp; kraft cook; carbohydrate; xylan; oxygen delignification; Hexenuronic acid; kappa number;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term trend regarding wood is an increase in price. Because wood contributes to a large part of production costs, the efficient utilisation of wood is greatly desired to reduce production costs for kraft pulp producers. During the 1990s, the development of improved modified kraft cooking began, which led to higher yields. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Evaluating the utilisation of industrial excess heat from an energy systems perspective

    Författare :Igor Cruz; Magnus Wallén; Mats Söderström; Maria Johansson; Danica Djuric Ilic; Johanna Mossberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial excess heat; Waste heat; Heat recovery; Greenhouse gas emissions;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2045. The need to immediately reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to achieve climate targets affects industry directly. The pulp and paper sector is responsible for more than 50% of industrial energy use in Sweden. LÄS MER
