21. The Technology and Economy of Farm-Scale, High-Solids Anaerobic Digestion of Plant Biomass
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a microbially mediated process occurring in nature in the absence of oxygen and other non-carbonaceous electron acceptors. The majority of the carbon of the organic matter degraded in the process is transformed into carbon dioxide and methane. LÄS MER
22. Biostimulant potential of agro-industrial side-streams - sustainable sugar beet cultivation and drought tolerance in wheat
Sammanfattning : The biostimulant potential of three agro-industrial side-streams (hydrolysed wheat gluten (HWG), potato protein (PP/PF) and the chitosan derivative KitoFlokk™ (KF/KF200) and two chitosan types (KA and KB) was compared to that of untreated controls and nutrient solution in trials with three sugar beet genotypes (Volga, Armesa, Mustang) and two spring wheat genotypes (204, 276).In general, 1-2 g/kg HWG or PP/PF applied as a soil mix enhanced sugar beet growth and physiology. 23. Life cycle and flowering time control in beet
Sammanfattning : Flowering plants switch from vegetative growth to flowering at specific points in time. This biological process is triggered by the integration of endogenous stimuli and environmental cues such as changes in day length and temperature. LÄS MER
24. Carbon allocation in underground storage organs : studies on accumulation of starch, sugars and oil
Sammanfattning : By increasing knowledge of carbon allocation in underground storage organs and using the knowledge to improve such crops, the competitiveness of these types of storage organs can be strengthened. Starch is the most common storage compound in tubers and roots, but some crops accumulate compounds other than starch. LÄS MER
25. Ground beetle dynamics in intensively managed agricultural landscapes
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I have focused on studying dynamics of ground beetle assemblages in intensively managed agricultural landscapes. By definition, the land cover of these landscapes is dominated by annually tilled farmland, comprising a range of different crop types, in the context of the southern Swedish province of Scania mostly winter wheat, spring barley, winter rapeseed, and sugar beets.
