6. Resolution of Dynamic Systems: Applications in Asymmetric Synthesis and Materials Science
Sammanfattning : This thesis is built on the concepts of constitutional dynamic chemistry and dynamic kinetic resolution, where reversible covalent reactions are used to generate dynamics and kinetically controlled reactions are employed for resolution. The thesis is divided into two parts:The first section focuses on the study of dynamic systemic resolution, a concept derived from constitutional dynamic chemistry. LÄS MER
7. Enantioselective Synthesis of Sec-Alcohol Derivatives and Diols via Combined Ruthenium and Enzyme Catalysis
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis describes the synthesis of enantiopure secondary alcohol derivatives. These syntheses are carried out via the combination of an enzyme as a resolution catalyst and a ruthenium catalyst as a racemization catalyst, in what is called dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR). 8. Studies on mRNA turnover in bacteria
Sammanfattning : Genetic information, which is stored in DNA, is transferred to messenger RNA (mRNA) in a process called transcription. mRNAs are then translated by ribosomes into proteins which, with some important exceptions, catalyze chemical reactions in cells. Since cells must be able to adapt to changes in the environment, mRNAs must be unstable. LÄS MER
9. Identification of molecular markers associated with fungal resistance in Norway spruce and common ash
Sammanfattning : Trees are giants of the forests, possessing nutrient-rich tissues that make them natural targets for pathogens. In Europe, the fungal pathogens Heterobasidion annosum s.l. and Hymenoscyphus fraxineus are associated with Norway spruce and common ash, respectively. LÄS MER
10. Heterogeneous catalysis in racemization and kinetic resolution along a journey in protein engineering
Sammanfattning : The first part of my thesis concerns the use of heterogeneous acidic resins for racemization of tert-alcohols without any side-product formation. The focus was to develop a system which can be further extended to a DKR protocol consisting of an enzymatic KR reaction. LÄS MER
