6. Enzyme substrate solvent interactions : a case study on serine hydrolases
Sammanfattning : Reaction rates and selectivities were measured for transacylation of fatty acid esters in solvents catalysed by Candida antarctica lipase B and by cutinase from Humicola insolens. With these enzymes classical water-based enzymology can be expanded to many different solvents allowing large variations in interaction energies between the enzymes, the substrates and the surrounding. 7. Perinatal Energy Substrate Metabolism : Glucose Production and Lipolysis in Pregnant Women and Newborn Infants with Particular Reference to Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)
Sammanfattning : Glucose is the most important fetal nutrient and the production of this substrate increases in the pregnant woman. In the last trimester the increased insulin resistance directs energy substrates to the fetus. Fetal growth is sometimes disturbed, often without an obvious explanation. LÄS MER

9. Substrate Noise Coupling in Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits: Compact Modeling and Grounding Strategies
Sammanfattning : Integration of digital and analog circuits on the same chip is the result of the microelectronic industry's strive for low-cost, small, hand-held products. However, these mixed-signal circuits can experience interference problems; digital circuits inject noise into the substrate which is transmitted throughout the chip and received by sensitive analog circuits. 10. Biogas Production from Lignocelluloses : Pretreatment, Substrate Characterization, Co-digestion and Economic Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Biogas production from organic materials can be used as a renewable vehicle fuel, provide heat and generate electricity and can thereby reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. This thesis focuses on the biogas production based on lignocelluloses. There is an abundant availability of lignocelluloses, constituting 50% of the total biomass worldwide. LÄS MER
