  1. 11. Theoretical Investigations of C–O Activation in Biomass

    Författare :Pemikar Srifa; Joseph Samec; Supa Hannongbua; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DFT calculations; global minima hopping; reactive force field; lignin; palladium; nucleophilic substitution; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on using computational chemistry approaches to study how biobased molecules interact with both homo- and heterogeneous catalysts. The reaction mechanisms of such transformations have also been studied. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On the in-plane mechanical properties of birch plywood

    Författare :Tianxiang Wang; Magnus Wålinder; Roberto Crocetti; Bo Källsner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Birch plywood; in-plane mechanical properties; load-to-face grain angle; failure criteria; size effect; moisture; Björkplywood; mekaniska egenskaper i planet; belastningsvinkel relativt ytfaneren; brott kriterier; storlekseffekt; fukt; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Birch plywood has favorable mechanical properties that could be used in new types of connections for timber structures, and thus enable a substitution of the current system with steel plates. Such new connections could result in significant advantages in terms of environmental impact and economy as well as ease of prefabrication and mountability. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The Synthesis and Use of Certain Pyridine Derivatives as Modulators of the G-protein Coupled Receptors mGlu5 and P2Y12

    Författare :Peter Bach; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mGluR5; P2Y12; gastroesophageal reflux disease GERD ; thrombosis; ethyl nicotinates; ureas; sulfonylureas; oxazoles; bioisosteres; regioselectivity; solvent effect.;

    Sammanfattning : The glutamatergic mGlu5 receptor and the purinergic P2Y12 receptor are two important targets in the development of novel treatments of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and thrombosis, respectively. Synthesis was developed to investigate the structure-activity relationships (SAR) of a novel series of 2-alkynylpyridine derivatives as mGluR5 antagonists. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained empirical essays in labor and development economics.Diverse Expertise, Peer Effects, and Research Productivity: Does diversity in idea space matter? We empirically explore whether the cognitive distance between collaborators affects peer effects and productivity in creating knowledge. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Green consumption energy use and carbon dioxide emission

    Författare :Eva Alfredsson; Einar Holm; Neil Swan; Kerstin Westin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social and economic geography; Energy consumption; Carbon dioxide emission; Energy intensity; Carbon intensity; Life cycle assessment; Consumption patterns; Lifestyles; Systems analysis; Microsimulation modelling; Demography; Sustainability; Rebound effects; Substitution effects; Kulturgeografi; Human geography; Kulturgeografi; Social and Economic Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to explore the quantitative potential to reduce energy requirements and CO2 emissions through changed patterns of consumption, given unchanged levels of consumption expenditure. The thesis question is analysed using a systems analysis approach which in this case means that life cycle assessment data on energy requirements and CO2 emissions related to household consumption are combined with a financial and behavioural analysis to make sure that the budget constraint is kept and that both the first and second order effects of adopting a green consumption pattern are analysed.
