Sammanfattning : The subject of this thematic and narrative-technical study is the Swedish author Carl Jonas Love Almqvist's (1793-1866) slottskrönika (castle chronicle) and the indirect way of writing. The castle chronicle comprises the novels Jaktslottet (The Hunting Castle; 1833), Hinden (The Hind; 1833) and Baron Julius K* (1835), all of which are included in Almqvist's great collective work, Törnrosens bok (The Briar-rose Book). Sammanfattning : Through a thorough analysis of all eighteen episodes of Ulysses, this study advances a dialectical reading of Ireland’s pre-revolutionary imagination as it unfolds in James Joyce’s novel. By tracing Joyce’s engagements with British colonialism, national romanticism and the Celtic Revival, this study views Joyce’s modernist project as a comprehensive literary response to Ireland’s changing aesthetic sensibilities, political fortunes, and social concerns. 8. Myth Aestheticization
Sammanfattning : This thesis theorizes the process of myth aestheticization for marketing and consumption. A concept of myth aestheticization springs from a simple yet complex idea: What if something is not “aesthetic” in and by itself, but it is made “aesthetic”? This thesis would like to refine the argument that aestheticization entails a process that typically translates myths into beautiful, sublime ideals and (re-)produces as something beautiful and/or sublime by brands and consumers, is a way through which consumer culture operates. While learning how to solve mathematical problems in school, we come to believe that mathematics has a set of properties in itself, for instance that it is useful in everyday life, even though this is not necessarily so.
