16. Procedure for the reduction of the effect of transient whole body vibrations
Sammanfattning : There is a growing interest in the topic areas of increased vibration comfort and reduced vibration levels in work vehicles. Legislation, health costs and demands for increased competitiveness are all important motivating factors in this growing interest. LÄS MER
17. Effects of repetitive work on proprioception and of stretching on sensory mechanisms : implications for work-related neuromuscular disorders
Sammanfattning : The aims of the thesis were (i) to investigate the impact of repetitive low-intensity work exposure on proprioception and (ii) to examine effects of muscle stretching (especially sensory effects and effects on muscle nociception) and to relate its application to the prevention, alleviation and/or treatment of work-related neuromuscular disorders. The effects of low-intensity repetitive work on the shoulder proprioception were tested in healthy subjects. LÄS MER
18. Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors and knee prosthesis surgery
Sammanfattning : Adverse effects of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors on bone healing have previously been demonstrated in diaphyseal fracture models in animals. In spite of that, they are widely used as postoperative analgesics in orthopaedic surgery. After joint replacement, a bone repair process starts at the interface between bone and cement. LÄS MER
19. Streaming Video over Unreliable and Bandwidth Limited Networks
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis is to provide a smooth video playout on the mobile device over wireless networks. The parameters that specify the wireless channel include: bandwidth variation, frame losses, and outage time. LÄS MER
20. Wrist and thumb joint postures and motions: Measurements using electrogoniometry and EMG
Sammanfattning : Correct measurements of the joints’ extreme postures, velocity and repetitiveness are important for studies of the origin of musculoskeletal disorders. Posture measurements of wrist and thumb joints may also provide insights into input device designs that may reduce effort and/or facilitate productivity. LÄS MER
