  1. 21. Development of Cermet Microstructures during Sintering and Heat-Treatment

    Författare :Jenni Zachrisson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; APFIM; EELS; cemented carbides; quantitative microanalysis; gradients; N ; TEM; EFTEM; hardmetals; EDX; Ti C; light elements;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is concerned with the microstructure of Ti(C, N) based cermet materials used in cutting tool applications. Several techniques have been used to study the microstructure of cermets, in particular transmission electron micro-scopy in combi-na-tion with energy dispersive X-ray analysis and electron energy-loss spectroscopy, energy-filtered transmission electron micro-scopy, atom-probe field-ion microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. 2. 22. Investigations of Flow Patterns in Ventilated Rooms Using Particle Image Velocimetry : Applications in a Scaled Room with Rapidly Varying Inflow and over a Wall-Mounted Radiator

    Författare :Amir Sattari; Ivo Martinac; Mats Sandberg; Dirk Müller; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimental study; structured light 3D scanning system; ventilation; varying flow rate; room model; wall-mounted radiator; air; water; flow; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimentell studie; scanningsystem för strukturerat 3D-ljus; ventilation; varierande tilluftsflöde; rumsmodell; väggmonterad radiator; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis introduces and describes a new experimental setup for examining the effects of pulsating inflow to a ventilated enclosure. The study aimed to test the hypothesis that a pulsating inflow has potential to improve ventilation quality by reducing the stagnation zones through enhanced mixing. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Frequency comb Brillouin microscopy

    Författare :Felipe Ademir Alemán Hérnandez; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brillouin light scattering; optics; spinwave spectroscopy; phonon spectroscopy; microscopy; Fabry-Perot interferometer; Frequency comb;

    Sammanfattning : Brillouin light scattering (BLS), an almost a century-old technique, has evolved into a powerful and versatile method to study acoustic and magnetic phenomena down to the nanometer size scale. Presently, BLS can be applied in fields as diverse as acoustics, spintronics, geosciences, and biophysics. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Controlling DNA compaction and the interaction with model biomembranes

    Författare :Marie-Louise Ainalem; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; model biomembrane; DNA compaction; cryo-TEM; null ellipsometry; dynamic light scattering; toroid; bilayer; neutron reflectivity; dendrimer; PAMAM; DNA; poly amido amine ;

    Sammanfattning : The studies described in this thesis forms part of a larger collaborative project, Neonuclei, with the objective to design a module for packaging the negatively charged DNA into a ”neonucleus” with transcription competence. There are many applications that require control of DNA compaction, i.e. packaging or condensation. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Development of Ultra-fast Biosensors for Detection of Non-electroactive Neurotransmitters

    Författare :Yuanmo Wang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial cell; quantification; stability; deformation; dynamic light scattering; adsorption; amperometry; nanoparticle tracking analysis; enzyme monolayer; glucose oxidase; exocytosis; choline oxidase; acetylcholine; enzymatic activity; acetylcholine esterase; gold nanoparticles; Biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : During neuronal communication neurotransmitters are released through the process exocytosis that occurs on the time scale of sub-milliseconds to milliseconds. Neuronal activity by neurotransmitters that are non-electroactive cannot easily be monitored due to limitations in the temporal resolutions of the sensor probes for these analytes. LÄS MER
