  1. 1. Visualizing structural dynamics: from small molecules to membrane proteins

    Författare :Magnus Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; membrane protein; bacteriorhodopsin; proteorhodopsin; halorhodopsin; structural dynamics; time-resolved X-ray scattering;

    Sammanfattning : To fully understand the mechanism of a chemical reaction, it is important to characterize the rapid structural dynamics of transient chemical species as the reaction propagates. Since chemical processes are heavily influenced by the solvent in which they occur, the interaction with the surrounding solution also needs to be elucidated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ribosomal RNA Modification Enzymes : Structural and functional studies of two methyltransferases for 23S rRNA modification in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Avinash S. Punekar; Maria Selmer; Martino Bolognesi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; ribosome biogenesis; ribosome assembly; ribosomal RNA; peptidyltransferase center; domain V; post-transcriptional modification; methyltransferases; S-adenosyl-methionine; RlmM; Cm2498; RlmJ; m6A2030; X-ray crystallography; substrate recognition; substrate specificity; catalytic mechanism; evolution; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Escherichia coli ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is post-transcriptionally modified by site-specific enzymes. The role of most modifications is not known and little is known about how these enzymes recognize their target substrates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Författare :Anna Reymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular modelling; intercalation; homologous recombination; DNA; ruthenium II polypyridyl compounds; human Rad51;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other. 4. 4. Embedding Theorems for Mixed Norm Spaces and Applications

    Författare :Robert Algervik; Viktor Kolyada; Javier Soria; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mixed norms; rearrangements; modulus of continuity; embeddings; Sobolev spaces; Besov spaces; Lorentz spaces; Mathematical analysis; Analys; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the study of mixed norm spaces that arise in connection with embeddings of Sobolev and Besov type spaces. We study different structural, integrability, and smoothness properties of functions satisfying certain mixed norm conditions. Conditions of this type are determined by the behaviour of linear sections of functions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular cytogenetic characterization of chromosome aberrations in soft tissue and bone tumors

    Författare :Malin A Nilsson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetik; cytogenetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; breakpoint mapping; FISH; structural rearrangements;

    Sammanfattning : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) belong to a diverse group of solid tumors of mesenchymal origin, with a large number of histological types affecting individuals of all ages. The general aim of the present thesis (Articles I-V) was to investigate in detail the genetic aberrations in selected subtypes of benign and malignant BSTT. LÄS MER
