  1. 6. Modeling the effects of knots in Structural Timber

    Författare :Christina Foley; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material technology; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; three-dimensional fiber paradigm; fiber deviation; knots; annual growth layer; material matrix; knot bump; structural timber; load carrying capacity; Materiallära; critical knot; knot distance ratio; local principal material directions; stiffness; materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the pursued research is to increase knowledge of the effects of knots in structural timber so that characteristics of weaker timber may be determined and applied to improve current grading techniques. In the process, a three-dimensional fiber paradigm was established, which describes variations of local principle material axes in timber containing knots. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Thermodynamical and structural properties of proteins and their role in food allergy

    Författare :Louise Rundqvist; Göran Larsson; Göran Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Protein folding; NMR; Food allergy; allergen; protein interactions; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are important building blocks of all living organisms. They are composed of a defined sequence of different amino acids, and fold into a specific three-dimensional, ordered structure. The three-dimensional structure largely determines the function of the protein, but protein function always requires motion. LÄS MER

  3. 8. On the relation between psychosocial work environment and musculoskeletal symptoms : a structural equation modeling approach

    Författare :Pernilla Larsman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychosocial work environment; felt stress; perceived fatigue; musculoskeletal symptoms; process models; mediation; moderation; structural;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate the relation between aspects of the psychosocial work environment and musculoskeletal symptoms including the testing of process models of the potential mediating mechanisms of felt stress and perceived fatigue, and the potential moderating mechanism of physical workload. This thesis is based on four empirical studies. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Fractional Calculus and Linear Viscoelasticity in Structural Dynamics

    Författare :Mikael Enelund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; linear viscoelasticity; convolution integrals; anisotropy; structural modeling; finite elements; material damping; time integration; internal variables; relaxation; fractional calculus; creep; Mittag-Leffler functions;

    Sammanfattning : The use of linear viscoelasticity together with fractional calculus in time-domain structural modeling is studied. Both constitutive and structural aspects are investigated. LÄS MER

  5. 10. An Algorithmic Framework for Intelligent Concrete Structural Defects Detection and Classification

    Författare :Ali Mirzazade; Björn Täljsten; Cosmin Popescu; Thomas Blanksvärd; Diogo Rodrigo Ferreira Ribeiro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Civil Engineering Structures; defect detection; Structural Health Assessment; Bridge Inspection; Computer Vision; Point-Cloud Generation; Severity Assessment; Machine Learning Regression; Bridge 3D Modeling; Unmanned Inspections; Byggkonstruktion; Structural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The primary objective of inspecting concrete civil structures is to gather information concerning the deterioration of concrete elements, including issues like concrete cover cracking, delamination, or corrosion. Typically, this data is documented through field inspection notes, hand-drawn sketches, and photographs. LÄS MER
