21. Borderline psychopathology and the defense mechanism test
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the present studies has been to develop the Defense Mechanism Test (DM1) for clinical assessment of severe psychopathology with the focus on the concept of Borderline Personality Organization (BPO) according to Kemberg. By relating the DMT and the Structural Interview to each other, the concurrent validity of the concept of Personality Organization (PO) for psychiatric inpatients has been investigated. LÄS MER
22. Formation and Decomposition of Platinum–Thallium Bond, Kinetics and Mechanism. Structural Characterization of Some Metal Cyanides in the Solid State
Sammanfattning : The kinetic and mechanistic features of a new series ofplatinum-thallium cyano compounds containing a direct andunsupported by ligands metal-metal bond have been studied insolution, using standard mixandmeasurespectrophotometric technique and stoppedflow method. These reactions are interpreted as oxidative addition of the cspecies to the square planar Pt(CN)42-complex. 23. Antibiotic Resistance and the Cellular Currency S-adenosyl-methionine : Modification of aminoglycosides and nucleic acids
Sammanfattning : Streptomycin and spectinomycin are antibiotics that bind to ribosomes and inhibit protein synthesis. Common resistance mechanisms involve enzymatic modification of the two drugs by aminoglycoside nucleotidyltransferases (ANTs). The first part of this thesis covers the structural mechanism of two ANT enzymes. LÄS MER
24. Molecular mechanisms underlying the activation of ALC1 nucleosome remodeling
Sammanfattning : Packaging DNA into chromatin represses essential DNA-based processes, such as transcription, DNA replication, and repair. To change the accessibility of DNA, cells have evolved a set of enzymes referred to as chromatin remodelers that act on the basic repeat unit of chromatin, the nucleosome. LÄS MER
25. Transthyretin from a structural perspective
Sammanfattning : Conformational changes in human proteins can induce several types of diseases. The nature of the conformational changes is largely unknown, but some lead to amyloid fibril formation. Amyloid fibrils accumulate in the extra-cellular space of tissues resulting in disruption of organ function. LÄS MER
