11. Coupled electron-nuclear dynamics in inelastic X-ray scattering
Sammanfattning : This Thesis is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) of carbon monoxide and water molecules. Using state-of-the-art ab initio electronic structure calculations and a time-dependent wave packet formalism, we make a complete analysis of the experimental RIXS spectra of the two molecular systems. 12. Regulation of Proton Coupled Electron Transfer from Amino Acids in Artificial Model Systems: A Mechanistic Study
Sammanfattning : Amino acid radicals are key redox intermediates in several natural enzymes including Cytochrome c peroxidase, DNA photolyase, ribonucletide reductase, cytochrome c oxidase and photosystem II. Electron transfer from amino acids is often coupled to deprotonation and this thesis concerns the coupling of electron transfer from tyrosine and tryptophan to trisbipyridineruthenium(III) with deprotonation in model complexes. 13. Studies on glyoxalase I from erythrocytes
Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation was to achieve an increased understanding of the properties of glyoxalase I, in order to eventually elucidate the physiological functions of the enzyme. Glyoxalase I was purified to homogeneity by a procedure involving affinity chromatography. LÄS MER
14. Modelling of Terahertz Planar Schottky Diodes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the modelling of THz planar Schottky diodes, focusing on analyses of the geometry- dependent parasitics and the diode chip thermal management. Moving towards higher operating frequencies, the electromagnetic couplings pose significant limitations on the diode performance. LÄS MER
15. Time-resolved detection of temporally correlated, single-charge tunnelling
Sammanfattning : We report real-time detection of the single charges that constitute a small electrical current, as they flow through a nano-electronic device. This represents a direct demonstration of charge discreteness in an electrical current. LÄS MER
