    Sammanfattning : An invertebrate nerve cell preparation, the lobster stretch receptor neuron, was investigated with respect to maintenance of its resting voltage, intracellular ion concentrations and excitability using voltage clamp technique and ion-selective microelectrodes. It was found that the resting voltage (-65 mV) of microelectrode impaled cells is caused by (a) a homogenous population of K+ channels which we denoted as leak channels (b) an electrogenic and voltage-dependent Na-K pump current and (c) an inward microelectrode-induced "impalement" current carried mainly by Na+. 2. 2. Transducer properties of a mechanoreceptor : an electrophysiological and pharmacological study of the crayfish stretch receptor

    Författare :Jiahui Lin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Sammanfattning : The abdominal stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, contains one slowly adapting (SA) and one rapidly adapting (RA) receptor neuron. The general aims of this project were to elucidate, in the SA and RA neurons, the participation of voltagegated Na+ and K+ channels in overall transducer process and adaptation, and to study possible blocking agents specific to mechanosensitive (MS) channels. Sammanfattning : - The stretch receptor organ of the crayfish, an analog to the human muscle spindle, is a unique preparation for the study of mechanotransduction. The organ consists of a rapidly and a slowly adapting receptor each composed of a receptor muscle fibre into which inserts the dendrites of a multipolar sensory neuron. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neuronal mechanisms of feedback postural control

    Författare :Li-Ju Hsu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; postural control; equilibrium; body configuration; reticulospinal neurons; stretch receptor neurons; galvanic vestibular stimulation; artificial feedback; locomotion; spinalization; rabbit; lamprey;

    Sammanfattning : Different species maintain a basic body posture due to the activity of the postural control system. An efficient control of the body orientation, as well as the body configuration, is important for standing and during locomotion. LÄS MER
